This system is designed to prevent the engine from being started without the proper key. The immobilizer uses a transponder chip in the key to disable the engine. If an attempt is made to start the engine with a key that does not have the transponder chip, the engine will not 1. We had tacho installation problem with out 98 lancer with no tacho on the panel. we got a aftermarket one but when we had to wiring it up it needed a tacho signle from the ignition coil. Method 3: Turn the ignition to “On” You can try giving the car time to re-recognize the key. Put the key in the ignition and rotate forward two clicks to the “On” position that makes the dashboard light up, but don’t try starting the car. Leave the key there for 15 minutes; it doesn’t always take that long, but it can. I believe it is located under the front seat. To access it, locate the trim panel at the base of the seat. Remove it carefully and you'll see the front seat attachment bolts. Remove the bolts and tip the seat back. You'll then see the battery cover and you'll have access to the battery.
